Yeti Marathon — Nepal Trail Running Adventure
The Yeti Marathon is a multi-day trail running adventure held in the Annapurna region of Nepal, organized by Wildmarathon and scheduled for 15th October. It blends high-altitude trail running with trekking, cultural experiences, and guided travel through one of the Himalaya’s most dramatic landscapes. Participants can choose between three distances: a full marathon (42 km), half marathon (21 km), or 10 km run.
The race route follows mountain trails descending through alpine valleys, forests, and traditional villages, surrounded by peaks of the Annapurna range. The course features mostly dirt tracks and single-track trail, with a significant downhill profile (approximately 2,800 m of negative elevation) balanced by moderate climbing. While technically accessible, the altitude and terrain mean it is best suited to runners with some trail experience and good aerobic conditioning.
The Yeti Marathon is designed as a fully supported experience rather than a standalone race. The entry fee includes accommodation, meals, ground transportation, local guides, stretching sessions, cultural visits, and organized logistics throughout the trip. Highlights include visits to monasteries and villages, a post-race celebration dinner, finisher medal, and an event jacket. International flights are not included.
An optional extension allows participants to attempt the ascent of Pisang Peak (over 6,000 m) following the race, combining trail running with a guided Himalayan mountaineering experience. This extension includes additional acclimatization, rope training, high-camp logistics, and summit support.
The event welcomes runners traveling solo or with companions, though participation is embedded within the guided itinerary rather than as a race-only entry. Overall, the Yeti Marathon is positioned as a destination running journey, combining sport, travel, and immersion in Himalayan culture rather than a conventional mass-participation race.
