Need to boost your training for a December or January event? Come to Nepal, no shortage of hills, plenty of major mountain views, and a lot of core-muscle building exercise in-between runs – in the raft!
Whatever you think about when you think about rafting, unthink it now. This trip is big water. The Tamur River is big, beautiful and sometimes scary when the rapids keep coming, right from the put-in. It needs excellent guiding, and strong paddling from those along for the ride, who should be tough, happy, optimistic, self-managing people.
The trip has a four-day trek in from which you get excellent views towards the Kangchenjunga range. We’ll run some hilly trails between 15 and 40km every day while a porter takes the direct route with your bags. You just carry water, some snacks, suncream, camera etc.
This rafting part of this trip has been run for several years in the same part of the season, when the water is just at the right level. The organiser, Pat O’Keeffe, says, “Tamur is one of the most complete adventure trips in Nepal, and my absolute favorite!”
The running part is new, and is meant to be non-competitive, but a fun exploration of a beautiful, hilly area with good weather and great views and a small number of good people.
