This will be a great race from one of the lushest corners of the Kathmandu Valley. The race starts from near to the Botanical Gardens and heads out on a half circuit and summit of Pulchowki, Kathmandu Valley’s highest peak. We can expect terraced fields around typical villages, forest trails, and hopefully crispy mountain views. Majority single track with some jeep track and a bit of tattered/battered asphalt. It will be a great trail run, directly after the monsoon has left the landscape utterly refreshed.
There is a good hotel very close the start with outdoor swimming pool. Other accommodation options may be available. Godawari is about 30 min drive from the airport.
There will be a shorter race organised too for less hardcore runners (20km) and a 50 mile / 80km course is also being researched now probably for 2015. Will be excellent training for people attempting 100km late 2014 or 2015.
Thanks to Godawari local Narayan Acharya for scouting the routes.
