Welcome to Kathmandu Debi Lang of Caring For The World Films, an award-winning non-profit organisation currently working on a film project in Nepal. As with many before her, Roger Henke took her through the smog on to the lovely valley trails…
For over a year, my crew and I have been training for the Himalayan adventure with Caring For The World Films and Himalayan HealthCare (HHC). My program included trail running, hill running, hiking with a fifty pound backpack up to eight hours a day once a week, hundreds of boring hours on a Stairmaster, painful core exercises, pull ups, sit ups and weight training 5-6 days a week, except when we were hit with a rare snow storm….. How foolish of me to assume all of this training would adequately prepare me for the Himalayas.
My confidence began chipping away about five minutes into a run with local trail runner, Roger Henke. He manages the Summit Hotel here in Kathmandu and is one of the sponsors of our HHC project. Roger is not a fanatical runner obsessed with the latest, greatest gear or wearing a heart monitor. He is a Dutch gentleman from Holland who simply likes running off-road.
